The Legally Protected Future Leaders Scholarship was created to support motivated young adults who are pursuing education, skilled trades, certifications, or apprenticeships while making a positive impact in their communities.
This scholarship recognizes leadership, perseverance, service, ambition, and the willingness to build a better future β no matter what path a student chooses.
Eligibility Requirements
- Ages 17β24
- Lives in Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Accepted to or currently enrolled in a college, university, trade school, vocational program, certification program, or apprenticeship
- Must complete the application in full before the deadline
- Must be available to attend the Legally Protected Annual Cookout on August 1, 2026 if selected

How to Apply

Applicants will complete a written application first. Selected finalists may be asked to submit a short video before the final decision is made.

Finalists may be asked to submit a short, authentic video. Professional editing is not required β a clear phone video is enough.
Finalist will have 3 prompts to choose from. Video prompts will be sent directly to finalist.

Scholarship Terms & Conditions
Please review the following rules before submitting your application. These guidelines help keep the scholarship process clear, fair, and professional for every applicant.

Whenever possible, scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution, program, or training provider on behalf of the selected recipient.
Eligibility
Applicants must be between the ages of 17β24 and accepted to or currently enrolled in a college, university, trade school, certification program, vocational program, or apprenticeship.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted by July 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. Late or incomplete applications may not be considered.
Original Work
All written responses and finalist videos must be the applicantβs original work. False or misleading information may result in disqualification.
Finalist Video
Selected finalists may be asked to submit a short 60β90 second video introducing themselves and discussing their future goals and community impact.
Winner Selection
The scholarship recipient will be selected based on community impact, future goals, personal growth, and overall application quality.
Cookout Attendance
The selected scholarship recipient must be available to attend the Legally Protected Annual Cookout on August 1, 2026 for the scholarship announcement.
Rights & Permissions
By applying, applicants grant Legally Protected permission to use their name, likeness, submitted photos, videos, or testimonials for scholarship promotion and marketing purposes.
Final Decision
All scholarship decisions made by Legally Protected are final. Legally Protected reserves the right to disqualify applicants who do not meet the stated requirements.

Who can apply for this scholarship?
Applicants ages 17β24 who live in the DC, MD, VA area and are accepted to or currently enrolled in a qualifying college, trade school, vocational program, certification program, or apprenticeship may apply.
Can trade school students apply?
Yes. Trade schools, vocational programs, certification programs, and apprenticeships are eligible.
Is there a GPA requirement?
There is a minimum 2.5 GPA requirement for currently or recently enrolled students.
Will the scholarship be paid directly to me?
Funds will be paid directly to the school, program, training provider, or qualifying institution.
Do I have to attend the cookout?
The selected winner must be available to attend the Legally Protected Annual Cookout on August 1, 2026 to receive the scholarship award.
What should the finalist video include?
Finalists should introduce themselves, discuss their goals, and explain how they hope to positively impact their community. Videos prompts will be sent to finalist. Videos should be 60β180 seconds.
