Please Read Before Booking Or Scheduling Services

Booking a class, scheduling a private session, submitting a firearm transfer, purchasing a firearm, or paying an invoice indicates that you understand and agree to the applicable policies listed on this page.

All firearm-related services are subject to federal, state, and local laws, background check requirements, range rules, and Legally Protected’s safety and compliance standards.

Training Policies

Class Attendance, Requirements & Expectations

These policies apply to concealed carry classes, permit classes, HQL/basic firearm training, range day, and other group training programs.

Class Arrival & Late Policy

Students should arrive early and be ready to begin at the scheduled class time. Late arrivals may not be admitted and may need to reschedule, depending on the class, certification requirements, and instructor discretion.

For classes with legal training-hour requirements, missed time may prevent completion or certification.

What To Bring To Class

Students should bring valid government-issued identification, any required paperwork, payment balance if applicable, and any items listed in their confirmation email.

For range day, students should follow the specific instructions sent before class, including firearm, ammunition, safety gear, and clothing requirements.

Range Day Requirements

Range day requirements may vary by class type, range location, and certification requirements. Students must follow all instructor directions and range safety rules.

Students who display unsafe behavior may be removed from the range or required to complete additional training before continuing.

Certification & Completion

Completion certificates or training documentation are issued only when the student has satisfied all required class components, including attendance, participation, safety expectations, and any applicable live-fire requirements.

Training completion does not guarantee permit approval. Permit approval is determined by the applicable issuing agency.

Student Conduct

Students are expected to behave respectfully toward instructors, staff, range personnel, and other students. Disruptive, unsafe, aggressive, or inappropriate behavior may result in removal without refund.

Firearm Transfer Policies

Incoming Transfers, Pickups & Storage

These policies apply to firearms shipped or transferred to Legally Protected LLC for customer pickup. Please review them before having a firearm sent to our FFL.

Before Sending a Firearm

Customers are responsible for confirming that the firearm is legal to receive and transfer in Maryland before placing an order or having it shipped to Legally Protected LLC.

Please complete our Firearm Transfer Notification Form after placing your order so we know to expect your firearm and have the information needed to process your transfer.

Firearms must be shipped by a properly identified seller or FFL in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements.

Transfer Fees & Pickup

Transfer fees are charged per firearm and are due before the firearm is released. Applicable Maryland State Police, background check, or other required government fees are separate unless specifically stated otherwise.

Please do not arrive for pickup until Legally Protected has contacted you and confirmed that your firearm has been received, processed, and is ready for the next step in the transfer process. Carrier delivery confirmation does not mean the firearm is immediately available for pickup.

Firearm pickups are handled during designated office hours or by appointment. Customers must bring all identification, permits, licenses, and other documentation required for their transaction.

Background Checks, Waiting Periods & Eligibility

All firearm transfers are subject to applicable federal and Maryland laws, background check requirements, waiting periods, and eligibility requirements.

Legally Protected cannot release a firearm until all legally required approvals and waiting periods have been completed. Customers are responsible for having any license, permit, or documentation required to complete their transaction.

Storage & Unclaimed Firearms

Transferred firearms should be picked up promptly after the customer is notified that the firearm is eligible for release.

Firearms not picked up within 14 days are subject to a $20 per week storage fee. Customers who anticipate a delay should contact us as soon as possible.

Extended or unclaimed storage may be subject to additional terms consistent with applicable law.

Denied, Cancelled & Problem Transfers

If a transfer is denied, cancelled, or cannot legally be completed, the firearm will remain with Legally Protected until it can be lawfully released, returned, or otherwise handled in accordance with applicable requirements.

The customer is responsible for applicable transfer, storage, shipping, return, or other costs associated with a firearm that cannot be transferred. Any refund for a firearm purchased from an outside seller is determined by that seller.

Customers should inspect the firearm before accepting the transfer when permitted. If the firearm is incorrect, damaged, or has another order-related issue, notify us before completing the transfer.

Legally Protected reserves the right to decline or discontinue any transfer that cannot lawfully or safely be completed.

Firearm Purchase Policies

Orders, Deposits, Layaway & Final Sales

These policies apply to firearm purchases, special orders, layaway, deposits, and firearm pickup through Legally Protected.

All Firearm Sales Are Subject To Law

All firearm sales are subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws, required background checks, waiting periods, paperwork, and customer eligibility requirements.

Deposits & Special Orders

Deposits may be required for special orders, firearm reservations, layaway, or products ordered specifically for a customer. Deposits may be non-refundable depending on the item, supplier, timing, and transaction status.

Layaway Policy

Layaway may be available on eligible firearms or products. Layaway terms, deposit requirements, payoff timelines, and cancellation consequences will be provided before the layaway is accepted.

Firearms are not released until paid in full and all legal transfer requirements are satisfied.

Final Sale Policy

Firearm sales may be final once the firearm is ordered, transferred, paid for, or otherwise processed for the customer. Manufacturer warranty issues are generally handled through the manufacturer unless otherwise stated.

Private Training Policies

Private Lessons, Gun Tastings & Range Setup

These policies apply to private handgun, rifle, shotgun, and Try Before You Buy: Gun Tasting sessions.

Session Type & Location

Private training may take place at our Bowie training location, a partner range, or another approved location depending on the session type, firearm platform, instructor availability, and range requirements.

Range Fees, Ammunition & Rentals

Range fees, ammunition, targets, firearm rentals, and demo firearms may not be included in the base lesson price unless specifically stated. These costs may vary by session.

Training With Your Own Firearm

Students may train with their own firearm if it is legal, appropriate for the session, safe to use, and approved by the instructor or range. Firearms must arrive unloaded and secured according to applicable law and range policy.

Try Before You Buy: Gun Tasting

Gun Tasting sessions are designed to help students compare firearms before purchase. Availability of specific firearms may vary. These sessions are for education and comparison and do not guarantee that any particular firearm will be available or suitable for every student.

Payments, Refunds & Scheduling

Deposits, Balances, Rescheduling & Fees

These policies apply to class payments, private lesson payments, invoices, deposits, appointment fees, and rescheduling.

Deposits & Balances

Some services may require a deposit or full payment to reserve a spot. Remaining balances, if any, must be paid by the stated deadline or before service completion.

Accepted Payment Methods

Accepted payment methods may vary by service and transaction type. Card payments, electronic payments, cash, or other approved methods may be accepted depending on the service.

Card processing fees may apply when disclosed before payment.

Refunds

Refund eligibility depends on the service type, timing, expenses already incurred, and policy terms provided at booking or purchase. Certain deposits, special orders, digital products, range fees, and administrative fees may be non-refundable.

Rescheduling

Rescheduling may be available depending on timing, service type, and availability. Rescheduling fees may apply, especially for late notice, missed classes, missed appointments, or schedule changes that affect staffing or range reservations.

No-Call / No-Show

Customers or students who fail to attend a scheduled class, transfer appointment, private session, or other appointment without communication may forfeit payments, deposits, or appointment availability and may be required to pay a rescheduling fee.

Safety & Compliance Policies

Safe Conduct, Legal Compliance & Instructor Authority

These policies apply to every firearm-related service provided by Legally Protected.

Instructor & Staff Authority

Instructors, range safety officers, and staff have authority to pause, modify, or end training or service if safety, legal compliance, conduct, or operational concerns arise.

Unsafe Behavior

Unsafe firearm handling, failure to follow instructions, aggressive behavior, intoxication, suspected impairment, or disregard for safety rules may result in removal from class, range, appointment, or service without refund.

Alcohol, Drugs & Impairment

No student, customer, or participant may handle firearms, attend live-fire training, or complete firearm-related services while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication, or any condition that affects safe participation.
